In Colorado, it’s common to see a POS car with a mountain or road bike on the roof rack, where the bike costs way more than a car. I always sort of laughed at that, but now... I officially have a watch that costs 2.5 times as much as my car.
Since we returned our WRX leases, we got the cheap 2004 Honda Fit with 44k miles. It’s a weird time capsule, but I digress - this is about the watch.
Vortic Military Watch , 1st edition.
Movement was made for US Army Air Core contract for WWII. It was used on the planes doing bombing missions over Europe as a “Master Navigator Watch” for navigation, with the best railroad movements produced in the day, with extra parts to make it have “hacking” seconds.
Vortic, out of Fort Collins, looks for these movements wherever they can find the m , gets them fixed up, and places them in a titanium case with a DLC coating, and it is made in USA with all A merican parts. It comes with 3 a mazing straps, watch tools, and some goodies I can’t talk about yet as the first batch is still in the mail. I live down the street so I picked it up at their shop before they shipped it out. I am still getting used to the 24 hours dial, but being European makes reading military time a piece of cake. And, although it is basically a 50mm watch, it is only 4.5 ounces with the strap. I love titanium.
It is just awesome to wear such a cool piece of history.

That’s really cool! I’ve never heard of that watch but I love the look and the history behind it

Thanks! It is a 50pc limited 1st edition. Vortic specializes in old A merican pocket watch conversions and I love how they are unique. This is my 4th... you can say I am fan :)

Damn it looks thicc, so that titanium is good thinking.
The 24 hour dial is neat, I don’t recall having seen a watch with that before.

It is thick - the old movement is pretty beefy.
24 dials used to be sort of a military thing. Glycine makes some affordable ones.

I absolutely love that brand. Unfortunately I cant justify a watch worth more than my truck

I know I know... I have a deal with the owner for trading my time for watches so he doesn’t have to spend money on me. Otherwise, whole I could buy a $5k watch, I wouldn’t while I have a mortgage.

The band on that one is especially cool.

I dig this one as well. The other two are brownish leather flight jacket one and black with white stitching.
